Handmade Sugar Decorations
Sugar cake decorations come in many forms, the most common is sugar flowers and figures often in the shape of the bride or groom for wedding cakes.
Handmade sugar flowers can be made to such detail that it is hard to distinguish between them and real flowers. Every leaf and petal is carefully pressed and shaped to gain a natural appearance. They are often the center piece on floral cakes and form the borders of the tiers on wedding cakes.
Flowers, either sugar or fresh, are the center piece on the top tier of most floral cakes. It is not uncommon to decorate a cake with both sugar and fresh flowers, the fresh flowers in a boukay on the top tier and sugar flowers lining the other tiers.
Handmade sugar figures of the bride and groom, pets or animals, hobbies and interests are an excellent addition to many wedding, novelty or birthday cake. Models can be of nearly anything, humourus sugar figures of friends, family or the boss. Handmade sugar shapes are also used to decorate cakes, such as the shooting stars cakes.
